Shipping & Receiving Clerk (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Burbank, CA
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support warehouse, inventory, and logistics operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for receiving incoming shipments, preparing outbound orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, safety-conscious, and capable of managing multiple priorities while ensuring efficient shipping and receiving processes. Please Note: This is a Temp-to-Hire opportunity. While the permanent position includes delivery responsibilities, driving duties will not be performed during the temporary assignment and will begin only after conversion to a permanent employee.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
  • Prepare outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and related paperwork.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient shipping and receiving area.
  • Track and update inventory transactions accurately.

Inventory & Warehouse Operations

  • Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock organization.
  • Load, unload, move, and store materials and equipment safely.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and warehouse documentation.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, assembly, and quality checks.
  • Support overall warehouse cleanliness and organization.

Customer Service & Administrative Support

  • Assist customers with pickups, returns, and inquiries.
  • Provide timely updates regarding shipment status and product availability.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and internal teams.
  • Perform data entry and maintain operational records.
  • Support audits and inventory reconciliation activities as needed.

Permanent Hire Responsibilities

Upon conversion to a permanent employee, duties will expand to include:

  • Operating a company vehicle for local deliveries and pickups.
  • Transporting equipment, parts, and materials to customer locations and project sites.
  • Performing vehicle inspections and ensuring safe transportation of equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or inventory control preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy equipment safely (up to 50lbs).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory systems or data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
